About

Andreas Terlas Design Studio is a collective of designers, creatives and artisans based in Nicosia. Creating strong interior stories, the studio draws from timeless themes of beauty, comfort and intuition. Known for simple frameworks that combine complementary and contrasting ideas, historical references, colors and textures, the work encompasses a range of residential and hospitality projects.

Established in 2008 and based in Cyprus, AT Design Studio’s designers and architects create frameworks in which to fit a client’s aspirations.

Through listening and responding organically, the team excels at finding the seed within an idea and cultivating a product, project or space that nurtures creativity.

Across disciplines, the studio’s work reveals discerning respect for the past and perceptive insight into the present. Our client relationships often span years, resulting in interiors that evolve through the events of a life.

The ATDS space brings together classicism, an innate awareness of art and symmetry, and custom pieces by small-scale fabricator Founder and Principal Andreas Terlas approaches design with a singular appreciation for colour and line.

Andreas gathers references from old master palettes, classic and contemporary film, and Greco-Roman antiquity — among other sources. His Greek heritage informs his aptitude for mingling ancient and modern materials, from marble to modern concrete.

Projects consist of custom homes for celebrities, doctors, writers and creatives, as well as commercial work including hotels and restaurants. With each project, the studio brings together multiple ideas into an intuitive narrative that freely blends form and flow.

The Team

Aris Violaris

Aris appreciation of architecture, interiors, and aesthetics led him to his studies at the University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design as an Interior Architect.

Aris personal design aesthetic is smart, well-considered, interiors with a relaxed feel. He uses the practices of minimalism to create clever environments for clients. Using the techniques of minimalism and maximalism as an aesthetic allows his interiors to look well-curated while being extremely easy to live in.

One of his secret techniques is playing with texture and shade to create depth and lustre, without being visually overwhelming and allowing the interior to be timeless.

The underlying principle to Aris work is that strong relationships with clients are the basis to an authentic creative process.
